Why are Firefox windows in the task bar automatically activated when I close an active FF window?
If you have multiple Firefox windows, one open and active and the others sitting in the taskbar, and you close (exit) the active window, one of the windows that was sitting in the taskbar automatically opens and becomes active. I must then hide the newly-active window again.
I also have the same problem as a previous poster. If you have multiple open FF windows including one active FF window, suddenly and for no reason (and no I am NOT accidentally clicking on the window) the non-active window becomes active. I must manually refocus to the original window.
Both behaviors are recent (within a month or so) and not triggered by any update that I did. Of course, some software update could have occurred without my knowledge.

I read the article, but I have no problems with Firefox remaining as a process. I close FF and there is no reference to FF in the Task Manager - so normal behavior.
The Poison Ivy issue seems unlikely also. I regularly run CCleaner and also have the Windows Firewall and Security Essentials running. Seems unlikely that a hacker is controlling the mouse.
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.
I checked for Malware, but found none.
I disabled an extension for MixiDJ V8. The problem of the firefox windows popping up from the task bar appears to be fixed. For now.
