Firefox 17 crashes several times a day since installation. Can I get some help please?????
Since I installed Firefox 17 a couple of weeks ago (I was refusing to update for a long time, and now I see for a good reason!) - it has been crashing several times a day, every day. I can't do my work with my internet crashing on me every several minutes and so if this can't be stopped, I'm switching to internet explorer.
Is this a well known issue? how can I fix it quickly (without taking my whole PC apart) ?
any ideas?
thanks

an update - since I posted my question, Firefox has crashed TWICE.!
I want to go back to the previous version.
any Modzilla techs out there? this is precisely the reason why I generally REFUSE to upgrade my browser - you release new versions full of bugs.
how can I go back to my previous version????????
If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more crash reports that have this format:
- bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page.
- You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website.

I have also been having this problem, today I have had to sign into Google Chrome just so I can hopefully stay in the internet for more than 5 mins, so far I have sent out 15 crash reports and haven't even been online for 1 hour,
Here is just one of the crash reports bp-01bb7-0d86-48cb-a309-2c9b12121216
I think the longest I was able to stay on Firefox this morning was 3 whole mins. Getting really frustrated about it all now.
Hi pg_63
This is not the correct format of a crash report: bp-01bb7-0d86-48cb-a309-2c9b12121216
The first part (01bb7) should be 8 characters.
Sorry my mistake it should read
bp-04bb7cb7-0d86-48cb-a309-2c9b12121216
Thanks for the quick response tho' would love to get this sorted :)

sorry I entered them in separate lines but the system has put them together one after another. interesting
ok, Cor-el - I have posted my crash reports..
so.....are you able to help..? have not seen your reply.
Is there someone from Mozilla here on this site who can actually HELP? or is this crashing a ...standard Firefox bug that cannot be fixed...?
Hi Aisha
It looks that you have a problem with your Norton security software (Norton Confidential or Norton Identity Safe) as some DLLs (e.g. coFFPlgn.dll) that present in the crash reports.
You will have to disable this and ask advice at the Norton support forum.
Also make sure that you have the latest updates.
I also have this problem, but I don't use norton.

Hi thosrtanner
Unfortunately the linked crash report wasn't send or is empty (@ EMPTY: no crashing thread identified; corrupt dump) and doesn't include any data, so it is not possible to find the cause of the crash.
Did you recently submitted other crash reports that were submitted and show a crashing thread?
Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

apparently they are all corrupt, which probably says something important
I don't use Norton Confidential OR Identity Safe.
My browser crashes so often that I got tired of it and too frustrated to keep sending crash reports.
why can't Mozilla issue a patch to FIX whatever is not working, rather than ask people to dismantle their computer and spend week on troubleshooting. I know it's free - but hey - you must be making money on something (probably targeted advertising)!
If this continues, I will simply switch to IE.
If you do not use Norton products then you may have used them in the past and it is best to download and run the Norton uninstaller to remove any remnant files that were left.
I DO use Norton products, just not the ones you mentioned. I DO have Norton Internet Security which I WILL continue to use. If Firefox is not compatible with it, I will change my browser, but WILL use Norton.
someone else said they have the same problem with Firefox even though they don't use Norton, - so Norton can't be the problem.
Can you tell us why Mozilla can't simply fix this crashing problem?
It is best to ask advice at the Norton support forum for this issue.
Norton is NOT an issue.
WHY does Firefox keep crashing several times a day? Honestly, I'm seriously getting sick and tired of this. With every new update it gets worse and worse. Each time I send a report, so you should have hundreds of them by now. Is anyone actually looking at them and trying to solve this problem? or are they simply piling up in your inbox.
When will Mozilla finally FIX this problem??????? are there any competent Mozilla techs on this forum to advise users how to stop their browser from constantly crashing??? I know it is free and all that, but still...
The crashing started few updates ago, while I have had Norton forever.
Please FIX it!
My firefox 17 crashes for some reason. Please help me.

vino55,
Try disabling Hardware Acceleration.
