How can I add a file extension to the content in "Applications"? I need to add Excel files.
I want to be able to open Excel files from my browser, but xlx, xlxs, etc. files aren't in the content list under Tools > Applications. I can't figure out how to add them to the list. I'm running Mac OS if that makes any difference.

The MIME Edit extension for Firefox 3.0 - 3.7 versions is available here: http://space.geocities.yahoo.co.jp/gl/alice0775/view/20080912/1221150790 The developer who updated that extension is from Japan, and that website won't be completely readable if you don't have the correct language package installed.
You can download it directly from this link and save it to local disk. http://space.geocities.jp/alice0775/STORE/mime_edit-0.601004242000.xpi
Then use File > Open File... to install that extension.
Thank you. What application do I use when I open the .xpi file? I downloaded it and said to open it and it's asking what to open it with?
Use File > Open File... to install that extension, Firefox knows what to do with the XPI file type.
Okay, I installed the MIME extension from the link you gave me. I still don't have any Excel (or anything called MIME) extensions in my list under contents in Applications and I still cannot open an Excel document with Firefox. Any other suggestions?
