Four alias accounts means four of the same folder list ? Isn't that possible with one list?
Hi. Have been helped a lot in the past through this road. Hopefully this 'inconvenience' will be resolved. My provider provides me with one mailbox with 5 alias addresses, from which my wife and I created our own accounts. TB has shown that entering these different mail accounts is necessary in order to be able to compose a message - each with their specific e-mail address. Until there no problem. However, because of this TB makes the same amount - always with the same content - lists 'Inbox', 'Sent', Drafts and everything else! So I see 4 times all the same folders appearing with all different accounts! It would be more manageable to have only one, since those aliases end up in the same mailbox, so the content is identical. Specifically: if we could enter all desired (alias) accounts in TB and thus send the message via the desired account, but only see one collective - yet the same - list appear. Plus, we're constantly getting notifications of all incoming messages that we've seen before with all the other aliases! Bit of an annoying abundance of the same thing over and over. Thank you for the help we hope to receive.

David, no I didn't (but I did in the meantime). Thank you very much for your help. Love TB more and more! Also this: if I delete that unnecessary alias account: there are 2 boxes under "account & data delete": 1st = delete account information 2nd = (option) 'delete message data which - according to 'more info' clarification - "deletes all messages, folders & filters associated with this account from the local disk" ...: Since those same messages will still be in my own alias account stay: can I tick the 2nd option without any problems? Or am I walking on thin ice?

You're right. Only one account is needed. You can just use one account with the 'real' email address and add the aliases under tools>account settings>account. Look for the 'manage identities' button in lower right. Just add the names and email aliases and sigs (if desired) and leave the SMTP alone (as that should be left set to the 'real' address. Then, in compose window, just use the pull down menu on FROM to select the desired alias and the appropriate sig will appear.
Thanks David, magnificent. But what do I do with the previously created separate alias accounts with the associated identical directories lists that, hopefully, will disappear if those accounts can be deleted? In the meantime, after a long search, I went through 'account actions' to remove one of those aliases (both options checked, with both the account data and the message data). The result is that that alias name no longer appears in the list and can no longer be used and that was not the intention, of course. What did I do wrong?
The unneeded accounts can be deleted with the 'Account Actions' menu. What list are you referring to and why do you say it cannot be used? I need details on what you're doing and seeing.
David, what I mean (see attachment): Had 3 A account: A1, A2 and A3 and one account B1. Had previously deleted my A3 account by checking both options: A3 had indeed disappeared and the folder list included (which was the intention). Only: if I now want to send an e-mail from mail account A3, it turns out that it is no longer visible and no longer exists in the sender list. I wanted to keep it there so that mails could be sent from all existing aliases without having to keep seeing the same folder list in my TB every time.
Did you enter the email aliases into the identities list? A screen shot of that may help .

You should be okay, as long as the messages are in the primary account.
OK, thanks David for all the quick help I've received. I have, out of ignorance, never been able to appreciate the value of TB and the very fast support. Suspected a high threshold and possibly a long response time, but this is certainly not it. I am very positively surprised. Thanks for everything. Luc
I'm pleased the issue was so easily resolved. Thanks for your kind words. Just a tip: If not now doing it, you might be able to set up filters to allow TB to send email for different aliases into different folders. allowing some big of individuality for each user.
David. Help. Cleared my wife's last alias including the 2nd option because I was convinced that the saved folders in TB were still associated with my own alias. This turns out not to be the case! All (old) saved messages on the disk are gone. Can I get them back or are they permanently gone and I have to get them back from a backup but then he will also recover all other deleted accounts and I probably have to re-enter the changes completely.
Thanks again David. I mean everything that was under 'local folders' is gone. However, when I go to my profile, I still see my local folder called 'WLM' with 2GB of data. However in TB I see at the bottom of the mùap 'Local folders' but it does not open when I click on it. It's all the weirder because my own alias has been there from the very beginning (and so is my WLM' map). I added my wife's alias much later and that didn't change anything (to my knowledge to my WLM map) I've added the screenshots. Thanks
I am proceeding slowly here because I never use POP, so I step carefully. Please post a screen shot of what the local folders appear from within Thunderbird. I think that will help. As an aside, my inference is that your inbox and sent folder are okay.
I've added the screenshot; is that what you mean, David? I cover email addresses and also the profile just to be sure because I don't know if anyone can do anything with that ...
Okay, I'm causing confusion. My error. What I want is a screen shot of Thunderbird, showing the left pane view so account, inbox, sent folder, and Local Folder appear as you see them when using Thunderbird. That is, you say you click local folders but nothing happens. That is what I would like to see. Thanks for your patience.
And this one too, when I click on 'From WLM' inside 'Local Folders'. It's strange that I see the folder 'Uit WLM' there twice. So in 'Profiles' there are 3 folders:
the folder: '*.default' the folder: 'Local Folders' the folder: 'From WLM'
Thanks for update. Here is an example of what I'm looking for, a screenshot of the left pane view when in Thunderbird. It will show what you are looking at from within TB.
No problem David, sorry I misunderstood you. It's extra annoying for you that it's in Dutch, I think
Sometimes I can't upload small jpg files and it takes a long time. Now the circle keeps turning and send it on; If it was not sent, I will send it again
Again with the screenshot now
The screenshot is what I always got: my own added directories from my web server nestle in the list as you sent me. Put them in red frame and then it looks (almost) like your screenshot
Yesterday I removed and reinstalled TB. I used, I think, the earlier version of which I was hoping to see the array of directories listed by the alias addresses as well, but TB dcavhts otherwise! So even though I went back in time (before the merge of those aliases) TB didn't follow. However, copied the earlier version. Do have a version from a week ago that I could mirror via FreefileSync... Does it make sense to completely remove TB from the laptop?
