Can't get yahoo mail anymore
Hi. Just returned from holiday to find that I can no longer get my yahoo mail on thunderbird anymore. I can get any of my other email accounts, just not yahoo. It gets the title of the email but trying to open it just gives the message 'The current operation on inbox did not succeed. The mail server for account (my email account) responded '[UNAVAILABLE] UID FETCH Server error while fetching messages'. I looked on your helpsites and it told me to change from imap to pop and the port to 995, which I did (and I've got the latest version of thunderbird) but it just won't work. I can send a message but can't receive message contents. Changing to pop and 995 also gives error message that the message was sent but not saved. Anyone else had this problem? I can get my yahoo mail just fine on my mobile or going to the yahoo website, just can't get it from thunderbird.

Just checking: Are you using an APP password? Yahoo requires it. Can be generated from the yahoo website. The password used for website doesn't work on email clients.
See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1368178
Yahoo only uses app passwords if the authentication method in TB is 'normal password'. It uses the account password if the authentication is OAuth2, which is the recommended method.
Thanks for your replies. The password hasn't been changed, it works on all my other devices. However, this morning my yahoo mail works fine on thunderbird, so I haven't got a clue what the problem was. I tried to contact yahoo support but it seems there isn't one, at least there isn't one you don't have to pay for! Regards and many thanks, Doug
