Hallo,

My previous thread was archived, but further regression has occurred so I'll bring it up here again as feature requests are down. I'm still using 56 one reason being that there are separate control options for the start page and the home page. I like to start with a blank page, but have the home button available for my #1 destination. The current version of firefox combines start and home pages, thus taking away my options to separate these elements. For a while it wasn't in the GUI, but you could fix it in the about:config (which was my previous "solution"), but with the latest updates this has been removed as well.

How do I get separate start and home pages? If I could assign a value to the home icon that didn't affect the start page, that would work too.

         Tak!

Does this pref setting on the about:config page work for you ?

  • browser.startup.page = 0
[0:blank; 1:home page; 2:last visited page; 3:restore previous session]

hello matie,

my suggestion is to blank out/delete any entries in the preference settings, as shown in the pic.

then create a separate bookmark for each page and place them on the book mark bar.

you can then launch the pages with a click of a button's

thanks ~dbbn. That would work, but I don't want to take up more screen real estate. That's another reason I still like 56 better is the slimmer URL bar.

cor-el: you helped me last time too : ) Alas, that used to work, but now if I change the about:config setting and then set my homepage in "preferences" it modifies the about:config back to 1, and if I modify the about:config setting back to 0, it changes the home page preference back to blank page (and around and around)

Aha - after I wrote the above I went "around and around" between preferences and config just to prove the point to myself before I posted, and on like the third try it randomly "stuck"! So it's working like I wanted now - let's hope it stays that way! Tak!
