Thunderbird starts by opening the trash folder instead of the inbox.

How do I fix this so the inbox is automatically opened.

Thanks!

You can't set TB to always open the Inbox unless Inbox is always open when TB is closed. If TB doesn't open to the folder that was opened at last closing, Help/Troubleshooting, click Open Folder, close TB, delete session.json.

Thanks! This actually fixed two issues- the inbox problem and TB was not automatically downloading emails.

Much appreciated.

Thunderbird currently opens at my university account but the university platform no longer supports TB/Mozilla/Firefox.

I cannot locate Help/Troubleshooting, click Open Folder, close TB, delete session.json.

I want to change the automatic sign in to my personal gmail account. Can you please tell me how to do this?

thanks

Click the 3-bar icon at the upper right corner, Help, Troubleshooting, or press Alt to show the Menu Bar with Help. Open Folder is for Windows, Show in Finder for Mac. If you change a password, delete the old passwords or oauth tokens in Options/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords, restart TB, enter the new password in the OAuth window when prompted.

Pulling the topic back to the beginning: I have a similar problem, in that Thunderbird always opens with the "Local Folders" view, regardless where I left it at the last session. The "session.json" file shows the folder that open when TB was shut down, but it is ignored when started up again.

The problem has only existed sinde the last few updates, so there's something fundamental happening here. Please help.

The process has changed; see this topic: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1301546

Thanks for that. A sort-of success.

However, now it just opens with the Inbox folder, as that was the one I pasted into Options / Thunderbird Start Page. That's fine, if that is what was wanted, but the previous behavior of starting with the folder in use at the previous shut-down still doesn't happen.

On my system, TB opens with the folder that was open at last closing, since the box 'When TB launches....' is checked in Options/General. The Default Location is set. You may have to delete session.json to restore the correct action.

Yes, thanks for that. It doesn't make much sense, though, because if that box is checked, I would expect that specified would show, but not so. However, all's well that ends well - Thanks again.
