Since installing firefox and updates, I have been having problems launching chrome now. Can firefox be the problem? It also seems that when browsing with firefox my computer is slow, there seems that the hard drive is running more than before.

What security software do you have?

It is possible that your firewall or other security software blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox application.
