Why does Firefox Developper Edition keep asking me to update?
It's not really a problem but Firefox Developer Edition keep asking me to update to version 44.0a2,which I already have

What kind of Firefox version do you need?
Do you need a stable version like the release or possibly the Beta version that will become the next release and get an update about twice a week?
Or don't you mind updating every day with a using a nightly build to test newer (unfinished) features that will be part of a future release?
The Nightly alpha1 channel sometimes gets a respin and if you have missed the first update then you are required to download the full version (45 MB). The DE edition (alpha2) doesn't get a respin because only code that has backed on the Nightly channel for a few week land on the DE update channel, so that channel is a bit more stable.
Notre that it is always recommended to install the current release or at least the beta if you decide to use one of the alpha versions, so you have a fallback if some websites or the entire browser doesn't work.

Developer Edition receives updates almost every day - it is an alpha 2 level piece of software.
The Aurora (aka Developer Edition) and Nightly development channels gets checkins almost everyday so therefore they get a update each of those days. Sometimes a respin can happen on same day.
Beta channel builds gets six to twelve builds for a versions in comparison.
Release < Beta (b#) < Aurora (a2) < Nightly (a1)
You really do get a new build each time as about:buildconfig then built from hg.mozilla.org link shows that. The useragent used to have build date in UA but that was stopped as it made UA unique.
But re-downloading every day ... well, i'ts not so convenient if you don't have permanent internet connection like me :/
Unless you miss a update, it should be a small partial patch vs a full update size each time.

If it is for to have Win64 Firefox then use Release as the Firefox 42.0 Release was first to have Win64 with the current Release being 43.0.4. www.mozilla.org/firefox/all
