How to fix error message 5.7.1
Our internet provider recently updated the mail system. I can receive in Thunderbird, but cannot send. When sending I get this error message: An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: 5.7.1 relaying denied. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again. From Bend Broadband's point of view, settings are correct - Authentification method - No Authentification, Connection Security - none.
Can you help get this fixed?

Christ1: Thanks for the reply. I have it set up that way, but it still does not work. I suspect the issue is on my provider's side, as they are changing over to a new email system and probably needs a change on their part.
Thanks again!

Right click the account in the folder tree and select settings.
Under outgoing server (SMTP) select your outgoing bend broadband account
Select the Authentication method and change that to normal password the user name will be your full email address
I suggest you also use STARTTLS Connection security and port 465If that does not work change the security setting to SSL/TLs and try it again.
Is all else fails change security setting to None and set the port to 25.
I got these settings here https://bendbroadband.com/residential/support/detail.asp?kb=100084
I have tried both settings and get the same error message. I suspect that bend broadband has an issue, they also may not be supporting Mozilla any more.
I did try the SSL/TLS, I do not get the error message but it does not go through, it just spins until it times out.
Is Bend Broadband also an ISP, and are you connecting to the Internet through them, or via a different provider?

I was able to get the right combination of setup to enable sending of emails through Mozilla and Bend Broadband. Thanks to all for your help. I appreciate it.
