Stop current tab from loading automatically after closing a tab or opening the browser
I'm basically looking for a way to prevent firefox from auto-loading the current tab. Like after restoring a session and whatever last page you were on is the one that's loaded first (not always what I want). Or after closing a tab, the next unloaded tab is then loaded (not always the tab I want to load).
The 'Don't load tabs until selected' option is not enough. I need a 'Load this tab when I f***ing tell you to' button. Or 'Don't load any tabs automatically' option.

I don't think there is a built-in option to restore a session but not load the last active tab in each window...
What if you switch Firefox to "Work Offline" before restoring the session? On the classic menu bar:
File menu > Work Offline
To display the classic menu bar temporarily if you ordinarily use the compact menu (orange Firefox button), you can tap the Alt key or press F10.
Of course, even if that works, it doesn't help with closing a tab and getting the deferred load of the next tab you view. Hmmm. Maybe there's an add-on for this.
Maybe use a desktop shortcut that opens the about:blank page in a new tab (-new-tab about:blank).
You may also want to disable loading pinned tabs and set the browser.sessionstore.restore_pinned_tabs_on_demand pref to true on the about:config page.
Aha. I like that -new-tab about:blank
But then closing tabs after a restoring a session is still wonky. Work offline kinda works but it's not what I'm looking for.
What would really be nice is a Firefox option 'browser.tabs.blank.tab.on.close' or something..
