Can't get the add on manager to appear - on clicking the add on option in the tools menu I get an error message which I can't then get out of. This means I cant add, remove or change extensions.

The message reads: A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.

Script: file:///C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/Mozilla%20Firefox/components/nsExtensionManager.js:623

Clicking continue on the message box results in the re-appearance of the message after a short delay clicking stop results in its almost immediate re-appearnce. The only way of breaking this cycle is to end the firefox process. I am accessing the internet on a mobile broadband dongle which is slow.

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing Firefox to no avail.

Try running Firefox in safe mode, you should be able to access the add-ons manager there.

I am guessing that you have the Personas Plus 1.6 extension. That one conflicts with the Google toolbar and has been causing the type of problems that you are getting. Whilst in safe mode you should be able to uninstall or disable Personas Plus 1.6 and that should solve your problems.

The Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article may also help you.

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't have Personas Plus 1.6 - any other ideas

See the troubleshooting extensions and themes article for how to check if another add-on is causing the problem.
