I have windows 7 64 bit, got white screen on firefox on logging in morning, previous day everything was fine. uninstalled firefox using advanced uninstaller and installed a fresh version of firefox from the site. still getting white screen, cannot go beyond the options window. chrome too not working, black screen. IE11 few sites (plinga games) white screen since yesterday. have done everything mentioned in the other forums. checking for malware, adware. clearing cache, reboot, safe mode, advanced properties in windows firewall. still problem started when I visited a train info site and in midst of the site surfing got a msg of 'bot attack' and a window opening up with olasarv site often.

please help.

Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?

Hi FredMcD

in safe mode, Firefox is working fine. At that time, acrobat reader got automatically updated, my antivirus (NetProtector) got updated, so I deleted acrobat completely but still in normal mode, Firefox is still white.

Thanks for replying.

As a test, disable your protection programs. Is the problem still there?

You may have ad/mal-ware. Further information can be found in this article; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

Hi FredMcD,

Ran all the malware scanners mentioned in the link you had posted in safe mode. Found a few Potentially unwanted and a few critical and harmful things which were removed and Microsoft defender found a hack which was removed but the problem is as is. Seems a complete format is the only solution.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Fred McD

Got no answers on Microsoft forum.

But my antivirus support uninstalled the latest Firefox on my system and installed an older version (49) and Firefox has started working perfectly well though Chrome is yet black screen and IE is still not displaying images and games.

Thanks. Neeta

If you want to try this;

Many have reported issues using the 64bit Firefox. Install the 32bit version from; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
