How can I contact someone to explain the problems (not describable in one sentence) that are preventing me from donating to Thunderbird?

The last update of Thunderbird has caused these situations: 1) I can't "paste as quotation" an excerpt from another e-mail into one I am sending. Nothing happens. (I can "paste as quotation" from a word processing program or a website, just not my very own e-mails.) 2) When I quote a received message, I can't insert my comments within the text; when I try this it deletes the quoted message entirely.

These two things mean that a lot of what I have been accustomed to doing with e-mail is now impossible without going outside Thunderbird, composing a message elsewhere the way I want it, and then pasting it back into a Thunderbird e-mail message. Not the convenient thing we are meant to believe a good e-mail program is. As long as this little mess continues I won't be donating to Thunderbird.

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try the following:

  • Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.
