I get various emails and have for some time. then suddenly they show up in Junk folder. I then tell thunderbird they are not junk and they are moved to the inbox. when I open them I am given the option of Junk or not junk. I click not junk. when the next one comes from the same sender it still goes to the junk folder. I want this stopped. How?

Ifthe person (Sender) is in your address book with that email address then the junk filter will respect that and never mark mail from that sender as junk. Where all this goes south is most mail server these days also have some form of spam filtering and with IMAP accounts those actions are reflected in Thunderbird. Regardless of Thunderbird's settings.

Likewise, many anti virus program also have spam filter that over ride Thunderbird's settings.

So I think the first issue is to try and determine where the settings are that are causing you difficulty.

For example Yahoo have a spam filter that keeps marking mail as spam after you mark it as good and putting the mail back into the spam folder. That particular gem has no opt out option either. Most disturbing really.
