Why are gmail inbox tabs (Updates and Forums) showing the msglist for the the Promotions tab.
After reloading the gmail page, i'll bounce around between the 5 inbox tabs (Primary, Social, etc) and they all shows the correct msg lists for the first few clicks. Then when I click on the Updates or Forums tabs the msg count indicator (1-50 of 532) updates, but the msg list that is displayed is that of the Promotions tab, ie. it shows the msgs that are in the Promotions tab when I click on the Updates of Forums tab. If I reload gmail, all is good again for a few clicks and then it goes awry again. I tried the same in IE, and all is good. I noticed that this problem started in the last few weeks... possibly after a release upgrade.

problem solved. I restarted firefox with add-ons disabled and then again with add-ons enabled. All is now good.
Oct8 update. well that didn't last. The problem has surfaced again.

In case you haven't tried this:
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Clear Firefox's Cache
See: How to clear the Firefox cache
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
- right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
- (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
- click the padlock or globe icon in the address bar > More Information > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page and logging in again. Does that help?
tried it. things are a bit faster - but the problem remains.
When you were using Firefox in its Safe Mode (restarting with add-ons disabled), did the problem completely disappear?
Firefox's Safe Mode deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some advanced features of Firefox, so those would be suspects for causing the problem if the problem does not occur in Safe Mode.
