Lost some "Sent" messages after accidental reboot

Yesterday I was working with Thunderbird, and when I was finished I went to push the power button to turn off the PC, as I sometimes do instead of the ALT+F4 or common shut-down procedure. Alas, instead of pushing the shut-down button, I accidentally pushed the reset button, and now my "Sent" emails in "local folders" (joined to my Gmail account) from June 2014 to yesterday are gone. Simply, they are no longer there. Sent emails prior to June 2014 are still available. I've already tried to look for solutions on the forums, but I never found anybody else who was having my same problem. Can you tell me whether I have lost those messages for good or if they are recoverable? The original messages are still accessible on the Gmail server, but I don't know how to tell Thunderbird to download them again from June 2014 up to two days ago!

Thank you in advance

GS

Sorry, I forgot to add: I'm using Thunderbird 38.3.0 on Windows 8.1.

Another information I've just recalled: when I went to push the shut-down and accidentally pressed the reset instead, Thunderbird had just finished a "compacting" operation.
