Mozilla allows SPAMMERS to add ADD ONs to the system. DoNotTrackMe is a spammer and adware!

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/donottrackplus/reviews/

The add on did mine my emails from my browser, now I get regular spam, contacted the add on publisher, no luck. I guess it is a time to change to CHROME as Firefox cannot be trusted anymore.

I do not know if this soft did steel my passwords and other information, if it did get my emails then possibly other data too.

WHY NOBODY DOES CONTROL THIS!!!

Your source of spam and problems; other than the one email advert you mention; may well be unrelated to the addon that you are talking about.

If it is a problems with the addon then the people at addons.mozilla (AMO) will have the full source code of the addon and the knowledge necessary to work out the addon is doing anything it should not do.

There are literally thousands of approved addons and almost anyone may write one. There is a review process but maybe it is possible that occasionally some rogue code slips in unnoticed. This forum is however just fellow Firefox users supporting Firefox use, & not anything to do with addon approval.

abine.com

I do notice the dropbox linked email source mentions donottrackme, abine.com and masked emails

It includes for instance

($5 / month, cancel any time)
                  DoNotTrackMe Team
                   [email protected]
                   280 Summer St
                   Boston, MA 02210
                   (800) 928-1987

abine.com are the authors of the addon DoNotTrackMe quite possibly you provided them with your email address. I note they do have a privacy policy

I also note the addon DoNotTrackMe is advertised as available for all major browsers including Google Chrome and on Apple and Android. If you get problems with unwanted adverts from abine.com the same issue will likely occur whatever browser you choose to use.

As I said in my first post you need to ask AMO to investigate if you think the addon is doing wrong. If you do start a thread over there you may wish post back here with a link so others may follow it.

Ghostery is a popular addon related to trackers

it has over a Million downloads from AMO But it is not without controversy

The addon will have been reviewed and should only be doing whatever it says in the Terms & Conditions.

A genuine Mozilla hosted addon is not going to steal passwords. It is not going to "mine emails" unless that is its design and purpose.

If you wish to question the review or the suitability of the addon you will need to visit the fora related to addons.mozilla.org that is forums.mozilla.org and I think the correct link may be:

If you have spam and adware this is a separate issue that we will try to help you with if you decide to stay with Firefox.

Thank you, I use Firefox since it was, it would be sad to leave it because some people are dishonest. I am not the only person who is unhappy here. I have reported the plugin domain in question to RBL. After they source the email then it is endless promotion of their business with great offers I really need to subscribe to. I haven't provided this company with my email, they did not get my permit to send me ADS and offers once a day and this should not have a place. The fact of installing the plugin does not give them any rights to spam me. If they would remove me from the list as requested then the problem would not exist. I am not going to follow any unsubscribe links from the emails too as it looks suspicious and I should not have to do it in first place. The fact of sending me emails when I haven't provided them with my email does prove that they source the data form the browser, otherwise they would not have my email then. There were other complains about this plugin before on the net.

Attached source does contain two different addresses where one is my special incoming address which I never use in production so they have picked up what they could and then sent spam to all available emails from what they could find whatever way it is. I haven't loaded any emails into this service at all so they should not have any masked emails and other fascinating technology linked to my business emails. I have tried to contact the company, there is no contact details on their web but email form, in response I was rudely told to uninstall the product which I did. However the spam did not stop.

Here is a source of one from the emails: https://www.dropbox.com/s/o9afe0ry2yuwmwk/spam.txt

What seems to happen is that this addon collects your email addresses as part of their service. When you fill in an email address on a form, the addon gives you the option to use your real email address or to mask it to that specific site. See screendump: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26789259/donottrackme.jpg I first clicked on "mask" and then I clicked on "use".

My click on "mask" probably triggered their masked email service, within a couple of minutes I received this email: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26789259/donottrackme_email.jpg

Now if I do not get further emails from them all is allright. Will get back to you if I receive spam from them.
