Firefox 27.0.1 on a Mac OS 10.9.2 the button to enable javascript is missing
I am having a problem with the BBC iPlayer playing in a separate pop-out player. Their support people have asked me to check that javascript running is enabled.
In the Preferences content tab there is no button to enable Javascript, in fact the Preference screen looks nothing like the picture on the support sites.
I have found that other preference items have moved in Mavericks after I upgraded and I would be pleased if you could tell me how to get Firefox working properly again. FYI I have no problem with the pop-out issue with Chrome or Safari

In Firefox 23, as part of an effort to simplify the Firefox options set and protect users from unintentially damaging their Firefox, the option to disable JavaScript was removed from the Firefox Options window.
However, the option to disable JavaScript was not removed from Firefox entirely. You can still access it from about:config or by installing an add-on.
about:config
- In the address bar, type "about:config" (with no quotes), and press Enter.
- Click "I'll be careful, I promise"
- In the search bar, search for "javascript.enabled" (with no quotes).
- Right click the result named "javascript.enabled" and click "Toggle". JavaScript is now disabled.
To Re-enable JavaScript, repeat these steps.
Add-ons
You can alternatively install an add-on that lets you disable JavaScript, such as
Thank you for your quick response, much appreciated. I have toggled "javascript.enabled" after clearing the cache.
Now the pop-out player works although it opens muted to begin. I can live with that!
Type about:config in URL and enter
- In the search bar, search for javascript.enabled
- Double click on the Value to change to TRUE
Also check the Security tab which is in the Java Control panel to make sure that java is enabled .
To avoid confusion:
If you use extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
