I have saved an htm and or html page for 4 days a week since 2008 to 2012. those pages have had no issues opening as the saved page. but ever since approximately 2013 those saved pages will not open as saved. I have asked at the site that the page is coming from if it had changed anything, they said no. my system is the same as it has been for many years(10), windows XP service pack 3. as for other saved files there are no issues, I would be happy to send as an attachment a page from 2008 and any of the saved pages from 2013.

Did you check the content of the files that aren't working in a text editor?

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information such as bookmarks and history. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences, you may also want to backup those htm/html just in case if something goes wrong.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Reload the webpage while bypassing the cache using one of the following steps:

  • Hold down the Shift key and click the Reload button with a left click.

OR

  • Press Ctrl + F5 or Ctrl + Shift + R (Windows and Linux)
  • Press Command + Shift + R (Mac)

Let us know if this solves the issues you are having.

I did look at them in Dreamweaver, that is the closest I have to a Text editor,so I could see the code and could see nothing, but my skill sets at this point lack the abilities to do this with a great degree of accuracy.

Can Dreamweaver make any sense of the code?

Is there valid HTML code in the file?

Firefox usually saves a file in two parts (Web page, complete), one the main HTML file and the remainder as a folder that contains additional files like images and CSS files and JavaScript files.
There are extensions that can store all files in one archive (Mozilla Archive Format).
