How do I stop my home page from opening AFTER I have opened a link that I want to see?

more options

1. I click the Firefox icon to go to the internet, and my home page opens, complete with gadgets. 2. I click on a link, e.g., BBC News, and a new window with BBC News opens. 3. Almost IMMEDIATELY, my internet home page re-appears and covers up the BBC News window. 4. I then have to delete that window before I can see the BBC News window. 5. This happens every time I enter the internet!

I have Windows 7, 32 bit installed, but without Internet Explorer and without Google Chrome.

There's a good chance this is related to a bug that kicks in when you do not have Flash running in any tab and you open a new window to a page that does use Flash: suddenly, the previous window (typically the one from which you launched the link or bookmark) comes back to the front.

The details are in this recent thread: Opening New Windows and Shockwave Flash.
