Toolbar search engines keep reappearing after closing Firefox after "Managing" and unchecking "Show search engines" box. Why?
I have gone to "Manage Search Engines", deleted the ones I don't want, and unchecked the "Show search engines" box several times. Every time I close and re-open Firefox all of the original search engines are back in the list. Why is this, and how do I fix it?

Hello AleishaDawn1980, default search engines are stored in the Firefox installation directory in the "searchplugins" folder, you can find and delete the "*.xml" file (e.g., "google.xml") if you like.
If the search engine you want to delete is a newly-installed(you install it) then it is store in the Firefox profile folder again in the "searchplugins" folder, find it and delete it.
thank you
I'm sorry... I cannot find the "searchpluggins" folder anywhere in the link you provided.
...or rather "searchplugins".
64-bit ?
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins
%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
open profile folder (e.g., "xxxxxxxx.default" is the profile folder name for the "default" profile, where xxxxxxxx represents a random strung of characters) and find searchplugins folder without " ".

You can delete the search.json file and a possible search.sqlite file in the Firefox Profile Folder.
