The "save password" dialog disappears too quickly
When FF starts up it restores all tabs that were previously opened.
The first one is on a site that requires authentication. If I enter the credentials I get a "do you want to remember this password" dialog but immediately FF starts reopening the other saved tabs, and the "remember password" dialog disappears
Workaround: close all other tabs, close FF, start it afresh, then I can enter the credentials and remember them.

See if this happen in Safe-mode , if this is not happen then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe Mode start window to disable all extensions.
Close and restart Firefox after each change from File > Exit

Can you open the remember password pop-up by clicking the Key icon on the location bar?
Here are some news.
The problem occurs specifically when FF reopens *two* tabs that prompt for credentials.
I first get an authentication prompt for the 1st site, followed by the "remember password" dialog.
The authentication prompt for the 2nd restored tab causes the "remember password" dialog to disappear.
Once I have logged in to the 2nd site, the location bar for the 1st one doesn't bear a Key icon.
