Firefox Google search not working? firefox 3.6.3 Google search stopped working. When I hit the search button nothing happens. The query suggestions in the search box also stopped working. If I hit the feeling lucky button it works and when I hit the back button and go back the search button will then work but the query suggestions still won't. If I go to advanced search I can search. Tried turning off add-ons and safe mode, no luck. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated

Same problem with Firefox 3.6.6 and Google search. Running Windows 7 Pro, 32 bit.

Jamais Vu, thanks for the response. Using https://www.google.com does indeed bypass the issue. Thank you!

I'm not sure if it is Google or firefox. FF3.6, FF3.6.4, and FF3.6.6 all fail in the same way for me. This behavior just started in the last day or so.

Your Google searches will work if you don't let Google use Javascript. The most practical way to implement this workaround is with the NoScript add-on, available from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722 - just allow the sites you trust (good security practice anyway), but DO NOT allow google.com. This will allow your google searches to work while they fix this bug.

Same problem here 3.6.3 on Linux

I confirm this is happening on multiple platforms. Firefox 3.6.6, all plugins removed; Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 32 and 64 bit, and Windows XP 32 bit.

Search from initial www.google.com page works. Search on the results page fails; the URL updates when you click search, but nothing is submitted to the server (according to LiveHTTPHeaders.)

Also, some of the links on the left hand side of the results page do not work; clicking sort options such as 'latest' do nothing.

Same problem, so I turned off Google's Query Suggestion option, and now the Enter key and the navigation arrows work. I can do normal browsing, but without the suggestions.

Same, FF 3.6.6 on Win Vista x64

Refreshing the page will update the search results - some type of ajax bookmarking (json?) issue.

Actually.. Just tested with jquery history plugin, and works as expected on FF 3.6.6 so probably some other underlying issue.

I have the same problem on XP and FireFox 3.6.6. After typing a new query (that overwrites the old one) in google.com search box and pressing the "Search" button -- nothing changes. Also links to subsequent pages "1,2,3,...,next" do not work. I reverted to FireFox 3.5 with no extra add-ons, uninstalled a few programs and still observed the same problem. The only solution is to press "circular arrow" to reload the current page. Then things will start working again until the next query. Crap.

Same problem, XP SP3, FF 3.6.6. First I noticed that I had Java Quick Starter 1.0 add in, but disabled. After JQS re-enabled, the problem went away. Then, as an experiment I removed the JQS add-on from appearing in Firefox (using Java Control Panel from Settings->Control Panel), the problem returned. Next I tried the suggestion by Don Law, after adding NoScript, I removed Google.com from the whitelist - problem gone. But I would have to whitelist many sites to use them so I uninstalled NoScript. Interesting - problem is still gone! I even re-activated and then disabled the JQS add-on, problem still gone. My guess is this was a Google problem and they have fixed it.

Disabling the Java Quick Starter and re-enabling it did the trick for me!

Thanks!

Where were you able to disable the Java QuickStarter? Thanks!

Firefox updated to version 3.6.7 for Mac yesterday. The "google search" button does not work, only the one called "i'm feeling lucky". If I press it and then "go back one page", the problem disappears and the google search works for the entire session of Firefox. The problem reappears again after unspecified time...
