Virus detection in Thunderbird 102.4.1 update of 10/30/2022

This morning (10/30) Thunderbird installed an update(s) now showing as version 102.4.1 (64-bit). About 11 seconds after Thunderbird started, my anti-virus software quarantined a file in: C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\Thunderbird\Profiles\odnzyelj.default-release\cache2\ entries\7CF8B9AB3641FD154F249C76FC2EFD21E7D164C1

Ok, so obvious question: is this a reasonable, perhaps predictable, reaction to this file, or is there an unlikely escape of something no one wants?

The cache is like the internet cache of a web browser. It contains all sorts of internet downloaded stuff that is linked to from your email. Be that images, or in some cases content of IP emails.

What is certain is it contains nothing required to run Thunderbird and for this reason has a clear button in settings. Perhaps using it might be wise and see if the AV pops up more issues later as you work with your mail. False positives are not uncommon with some products. But it is of little importance going forward unless it keeps happening.
