Firefox 106 update just came in here. The whats new took me to a tab where something like "Independent Voices". Curious to what this was about I clicked on the button "Change colorways"

Now I have an ugly color on some toolbars and backgrounds.

This article says "To disable a Colorway or select a new theme: Click the Disable button on the Colorway card under Manage Your Themes"

Under Manage Your Themes I see Disable and Enable buttons on all themes except... Colorways.

It also says "Expires January 17" (which year?). I hope I don't have to wait that long to get rid of this.

The article is a little bit misleading. You have to click the Disable button under Enabled section, or just Enable the System theme.

Thanks! The screenshot I added is from the Enabled section, but enabling the system theme did the trick.

There is still no option to remove it. What is going on here? Is this a third party theme from a company that is paying Mozilla to trick me in to this? The colors that you can choose from are accompanied by terrible marketing and lifestyle nonsense about change the world or your life.

I also just updated to the new Firefox and want to remove Colorways - it's just terrible! How do I go about removing it?

@tzvetalina, did you try the solution provided bij TyDraniu above (enable the system theme)? This will disable any other theme.

Those colorways themes are built-in themes just like the light and dark theme. You can find the built-in themes and its manifest.json file in this location (open via the location bar).

  • resource://builtin-themes/
  • resource://builtin-themes/colorways/

about:config Type. browser.theme.colorway-closet Set it to false. Done.

WTF is going on this month? First Brawl Stars looks like candyland and now this. Good shit Rana. I like your post so much better than the article.
