Thunderbird email lost thanks to AOL
I have a Verizon email account. Verizon email was purchased by AOL a while back, so Verizon email is supported by AOL. AOL recently informed users that if you're using non-AOL software to access email, the app's security needs to be updated to comply with AOL requirements. The Thunderbird instructions are to delete the AOL account and then add it back. Sadly (not being very bright!) I didn't realized that this would destroy all of my inbox subfolders, including a lot of critical emails. Is there any way to retrieve them? For what it's worth, the incoming mail server is pop.verizon.net.
THANK YOU!

It wasn't necessary to delete and re-add the account, but the older mail is probably still available. Help/More Troubleshooting, Profile Folder, Open Folder, open the Mail subfolder. Is there a subfolder named pop.verizon.net and one named pop.verizon-1.net? If so, Tools/Account Settings, select Server Settings for the Verizon POP account. In the right pane, if Local Directory is pointing to pop.verizon-1.net, click Browse... and point it to pop.verizon.net, then restart TB.

Thank you, thank you! I've been agonizing over how to recover all of the information that was lost. I greatly appreciate your quick response. I can feel my blood pressure going down.
Dear sfhowes:
That did it. Not exactly like the reference cited, but I was able to have done some research and found that the info was listed under mailbox.verizon.net and used that as the target and it worked. Thanks for your speedy response. More support from me will be forthcoming!!
