Cant open Firefox - message:Firefox can't find the file at jar:file:///Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/Resources/browser/omni.ja!/chrome/en-GB/locale/branding/browserconfig.properties. How can I retun to a normal start?
I cant open Firefox - screen/ window comes up with message: Firefox can't find the file at jar:file:///Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/Resources/browser/omni.ja!/chrome/en-GB/locale/branding/browserconfig.properties.
How do I get back to a usual opening of firefox?

The browserconfig.properties file was used in older Firefox versions to set a localized homepage. This has been changed in Firefox 63 to have support for non-localized homepages, so seeing a reference to this file is likely a leftover from an older Firefox version. You can check the browser.startup.homepage pref on the about:config page and reset this pref to the default value.
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can click the button to "Accept the Risk and Continue".

Sorry, continued from above: I can open a new tab on the mentioned above window, but when closing the tab the same message is still there on the previous screen/window. Sorry for the wordiness. I checked the address bar - no secure lock though - copied it :
chrome://branding/locale/browserconfig.properties
Hopefully someone can help. I would probably avoid this browser if it can't be solved - too bad, because I like it, but a thing like this can get more and more annoying.
Mac - Has anyone else received this message?

Thank you for providing this information which I was not aware of - sounds good - will try to get to it tomorrow- let you know when I have tried.
Thank you so very much. I couldn't stand leaving it to tomorrow. I can hardly believe it went so easily for me. Celebratory words and thanks in a few languages followed. I haven' seen such a well organized jungle for some time. Thanks for the excellent map and explanation so I could get out of what looked like a trap.
