I have found only way to get rid of it is to set firefox to "never remember history". All other methods of clearing history upon closing firefox, fails to clear.

After installing two new profiles and loading back my extensions manually, I discovered that Last Pass was remembering that drop down search page from 2 years ago (Duh)....Even tho I keep deleting everything to do with that page (cookies, cache, etc)...last pass was keeping it.

Deleted those sites from last pass and problem was solved.

Type about:preferences#privacy<enter> in the address bar. The button next to History, select Use Custom Settings.

At the bottom of the page, turn on Clear History When Firefox Closes. At the far right, press the Settings button. Turn on ONLY Cache and Form And Search History leaving the others off.

Are you using a bookmark to access the site? Check its properties. Make sure just the main link is there.

This could also be a website issue. Check with its support.

No it is not a bookmarked page. Since it does not occur on chrome or edge, I have to believe it is firefox specific. When I check the firefox setting on the history tab "remember nothing"..this problem goes away. So somehow, somewhere, firefox is remembering it, even tho, I have deleted cache, etc and have set it to clear on browser closing.

I dont want to delete and reinstall firefox and lose everything, as it is just this one damn page I can't get rid of.

Firefox comes in two or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.

However, this sounds like a problem in the profile.

Are you entering the address via keyboard?

I am getting to the page via a google search for lowes. then no matter which search I select (eg lowes location search, or my local lowes store) it brings me to a page with a 2 year old search item.

When I do the same in Chrome, it also remembers my last search. But I can clear cache and browsing history, then that search page is gone.

Can not duplicate in Firefox...search page always returns, unless I set history to "remember nothing"

It might be something in that link causing the issue.

Do you have the same problem with this link? https://www.lowes.com/

more options

yes, when I click that link, I get the same old search from 2 years ago.....then, when I override that search with a new one, then re-click that link, the old page is there

more options

more...when I click that link, it brings up old search item (leaf blower) in the lowes search bar....when I put in a new search item, eg "garden tools"...I get a list of tools, but the search bar auto flips back to "leaf blower"

Remove History For One Site

Open the History Manager <Control><Shift> H. In the search bar, enter the name of the site. Right-click on one of the listings and select Forget About This Site. This should remove all information, including any passwords / settings.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

I've done all these steps multiple times on the Lowes site. I even removed and reinstalled firefox.

The old search page is still there. Does not happen on chrome or edge.

I give up!!!!!
