I can receive IMAP emails fine, but sending either fails or timesout. I am using satellite broadband at about 8Mbps. Other email programs allow me to increase the timeout period to solve the problem but I cannot find this feature in Thunderbird. TB ver 52.9.1, Windows 7 SP1

There is a preference in Tools/Options/Advanced/General/Config. editor, mailnews.tcptimeout, but most timeouts in sending are caused by an antivirus program scanning outgoing mail. If you have such an option, disable it and see if it helps.
