I forgot to mention Thunderbird is set to download headers only Inspecting the "Download the rest of the Message" link this is obviously wrong it is: mailbox://nobody@local%20folders/Inbox?number=272..... etc. It should be my user name @ my outgoing mail server Have tried creating a new outgoing mail server and deleting the original server. Restart Thunderbird but still not working. I have two mail accounts set up both using a global inbox in local folders. This has worked fine for many years until this latest update.

OK further investigation results. If I revert to using "Inbox for this account" everything works fine. Going back to, Inbox for different account - Global Inbox(Local Folders) doesn't work. If I turn off "Fetch headers only" everything works fine. So it appears there is a glitch in version 1:60.2.1 You can no longer use "Fetch headers only" with Global Inbox.

Presumably you're using the Thunderbird version provided by your distribution. Does this also happen with the vanilla Thunderbird from https://www.thunderbird.net/ ?

I'm pretty sure the package distributed by Ubuntu is a vanilla version, Mozilla recommend using your package manager to install Thunderbird
