I would like to have a region search button available right under the search bar, basically like google chrome - you can just select tools then country and "my country" or "South Africa" or whatever region you are in.

Right now you need to click tools - advanced search - (then you cant even type the first letters of your country, you have to scroll down through hundreds of countries) then select advanced search. Takes me roughly 20sec per search when it could take me 2 clicks. This seems ridiculous when it could be - Tools - Country - click (like chrome)

there's no setting for that inside of Firefox.

Install a country specific search engine. http://mycroftproject.com/

I prefer to keep using firefox but they create a tab for this. Im sure millions of people are facing the same issue. I dont want to go back to using chrome for a small thing like this but time is money and searching in this rudimentary way takes time

Hello garonkent,

Would you give this a try :

Click on "Settings" (next to "Tools") => Search Settings

Then scroll down to "Region Settings" and click the region of your choice.

(don't forget to click "Save" at the bottom of the page)

Does that work for you  ?

I have searched through all the settings and havent come across a "Region Settings" anywhere. I use a mac and it isnt where you said it should be but searched and couldn't find it.

Is this support handled by Mozilla staff or just random bloggers?

Those settings are on Google's page after you've entered a search request.

If you can't find them there, then would you please go here (and scroll down to "Region Settings":

And to answer your question : The people who answer questions here are (for the main part) volunteers, users just like you, trying to help other users in their spare time ...... Firefox is a free browser, and Mozilla (the company that makes Firefox) does not have the financial means to maintain a call center.

If you regularly search on some regions then you can create shortcuts with a specific cr=countryXX oarameter.

You can check the page source of the Advanced search page for the region (country) codes.
