Re-copy old messages from Gmail to Thunderbird
I have a gmail address I've been using for 12 years. But I use Thunderbird as a POP3 client to store and send messages locally.
The other day I had to restore from a backup, and lost about 2 days worth of email from Thunderbird. When I got to gmail, the messages are still there, but clicking Get Messages does not replace the email.
I can't tell if it's a Thunderbird issue or a Gmail, so I'm asking both communities for assistance.
Any ideas how I can force a re-download of messages?

I would set up a second instance of the account, but using IMAP. Then you will be able to see all the messages stored on the server. (You may need to actively subscribe to and synchronize any user-defined folders.)
Now, in Thunderbird, you can copy or move those messages from the IMAP-connected account to the POP-connected account. You can drag-and-drop, or better, IMHO, is select, right-click, Copy To… (or Move To…).
