How can I get Firefox to function with cut, copy, paste by right click in Google Docs?

I always get a pop-up saying use CTL C, CTL V, etc.

These are keyboard shortcuts for copy, cut, and paste. Use them.

I do use them, but they are inefficient. Other browsers don't require the keyboard "shortcuts", but utilize the more customary and standardized, time saving easier right click method.

So maybe the question is more clearly stated in threee parts : - Why can't I use the right click method here, when it is possible in other browsers? - How can I set up Firefox so that I CAN utilize the right click method? (about:config setting, add-on, plugin, magic incantation, ANY other user doable method?) - If it's not possible for a user to do this, when will Mozilla / Firefox make this possible?

Thanks!

Do you get the built-in default context menu or do you get a special context menu on these Google docs pages?

Google docs may be intercepting the right-click context menu or create a context menu that uses JavaScript commands that aren't compatible with Firefox or are blocked for security reasons.

You need to use keyboard shortcuts if the buttons on the web page or other methods aren't working.

  • Copy: Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Insert (Mac: Command + C)
  • Paste: Ctrl+V or Shift+Insert (Mac: Command + V)
  • Cut: Ctrl+X or Shift+Delete (Mac: Command + X)

This is easily understood, but that isn't my basic question. - The right click gets me the normal Google Docs selection menu, including, for example, copy. However, an attempt to select "copy" gets the nastygram CTL+* menu. - The CTL+* is a workaround, not an answer / fix. I DO use this now, but REALLY want to not have to use this method. I waste too much time on it. - Please keep in mind that the goal is to be able to use the normal and customary drag, copy, paste manner.

So, again : - Why can't I use the right click method here, when it is possible in other browsers? Since other browsers can do this, it would seem that there are not insurmountable JavaScript or security problems. - How can I set up Firefox so that I CAN utilize the right click method? (about:config setting, add-on, plugin, magic incantation, ANY other user doable method?) - If it's not possible for a user to do this, when will Mozilla / Firefox make this possible?

Thanks!

You didn't tell us if this is a normal right-click context menu or a special context menu.

If there is a security problem with accessing the clipboard then you should see an error message in the Web Console ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Web Developer).

This may help; RightToClick {web link} Stops javascript annoyances such as forbidden right click, forbidden text selection or cascading dialog boxes.

COR-EL Actually, I did, but the wording is a bit vague. "the right click gets me the normal Google Docs selection menu" means that it is the special menu for Google Docs. Sorry for the confusion.

FREDMcD RightToClick is gone from your link. I got it from MajorGeeks, but it doesn't seem to work. Do you know the correct settings for Google Docs?

Thanks all...
