Can't mark some mails as junk. Instantly deselects itself.

I can't mark some email messages as spam. They instantly deselect themselves in a fraction of second (I can briefly see the flame). The mistake does not appear with every junk mail I get but only with some. I'm using Thunderbird 38.7.1 with an IMAP account from the Internet service provider "1und1".

I would be grateful if anyone could help me solve this problem.

I believe so. I have seen the opposite with an outlook.com account - it wouldn't let me mark a message as Not Junk. I too have a 1&1 account (via gmx.com) but I haven't seen that account misbehave in this way.

And of course I should have said "Try moving them to the Local Folders Inbox and then mark them as Junk."

I tried this and yes it works. I can mark the junk mail as usual in a local folder. Does that mean that the unwished behaviour is not caused by Thunderbird but my service provider?
