Starting yesterday morning I stopped being able to receive email from my verizon account. All of my settings are correct and my password has not changed.

I am getting the error "Could nor read chrome manifest 'file:///C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/Mozilla%20Thunderbird/chrome.manifest". Nothing has changed with my email account and I can see the messages if I go to Verizon web mail so messages are being sent and received through Verizon. I just can't get them through Mozilla. Every time it polls for new messages I get the same last message it was able to read. How do I fix this?

Thanks,

 Susan

I went through this link before and it didn't help.

I also saw that I had the error about the TLS problem so I installed the Disable DHS add on and that didn't fix the problem either.

What TLS error?

more options

It is in the error log for Thunderbird.

Timestamp: 12/3/2015 9:02:04 AM Warning: This site makes use of a SHA-1 Certificate; it's recommended you use certificates with signature algorithms that use hash functions stronger than SHA-1. The error I saw that started all of this was:

Could not read chrome manifest 'file:///C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/Mozilla%20Thunderbird/chrome.manifest'.

Not sure what I did but now I am getting my emails again. Maybe it was installing the addon. Thanks for helping.

Warning: This site makes use of a SHA-1 Certificate;

This is a warning, not an error. SHA-1 certificates won't be supported anymore in the not too distant future. But right now they still are. Installing the add-on did nothing, and I have no idea why you even did it.

Most likely it was a glitch at Verizon.

more options

When I searched on my error most every result had a link to installing the add-on so I figured I should try it. Nothing else was coming up with any suggestions on how to fix it. The error I was getting about the:

Could not read chrome manifest 'file:///C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/Mozilla%20Thunderbird/chrome.manifest'.

Could not read chrome manifest 'file:///C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/Mozilla%20Thunderbird/extensions/%7B972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd%7D/chrome.manifest'.

Are these errors? I can uninstall the addon to see if it goes back to blocking my email. I do think we need to get away from SHA1 just getting everyone to do that is going to take some time. I don't like using the old algorithm so if I don't have to I will get rid of it.

Tell that to Verizon, it's their cert, not your's.

more options

Yeah, I know. I know some people who work for Verizon security, surprised that it is not something they make Verizon do. So I disabled the add-on and I am still getting messages so it must have been a glitch at Verizon. Thanks for your help anyway, glad it wasn't a big problem on my end.
