I get an "Unable to Update" software message saying I don't have the system permissions required.

I am periodically getting the following popup screen on my iMac: Unable to Update. A recommended security and stability update is available, but you do not have the system permissions required to install it. Please contact your system administrator, or try again from an account that has permission to install software on this computer. You can always get the latest version of Firefox at: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/

I am running Firefox 40.0 and am assured when I check the "About Firefox" dropdown that: "You are currently on the beta update channel." Maybe I shouldn't be? What can I do to stop getting this warning, and to be assured that I have the security and stability updates that I do need? Thanks! Jacob Lee Kulp

Try to re-install Firefox, and see if the problem comes back.
