installed firefox 39.0 and after reboot all history gone tried a 2nd computer same results reinstalled Firefox 37 and ran Mozbak restore to recover history
after installing Firefox update 39.0 I noticed I had no history left, it was like a brand new install, I checked "places sqlite" was in the folder, renamed it, then ran Mozbak Restore,re-opened Firefox still no History. I then tried a second Machine with exactly the same result. I have now re-installed Firefox 37.01 on both machines as I don't have a copy of 38, I have run Mozbak to recover History, settings etc both and are working ok again. I have been using Firefox since back when it was Netscape.

And your question is?
I like keeping my History, I do a lot of searching and periodically I'll know I have searched for an answer before on same topic, so I then search my History using a key word rather than have to search the web again. I guess the question is, why does updating to Firefox 39 wipe the History file and if it's something simple why can't MozBak can't restore it.
if you do a fresh install of 39, does it keep history, did you check your history keeping settings? Did you set it to never remember history?
I uninstalled FF37 and all Folders did a clean install of FF39, places.sqlite was 1240 kb, ran Mozbak restore and places.sqlite went to 40,960kb, opened Firefox and places.sqlite dropped back to 1240 kb. I would have thought that the file construction of places.sqlite had changed and made it incompatible with old Versions but can't see any complaints on the web re this issue.
