Sometimes when typing a "t", Firefox gives me a new unwanted tab.

Sometimes if I'm typing and don't hit the "t" quite square on, maybe just a touch of the "r" next to it or something, Firefox immediately switches me to a new tab. Since I need to look at my keyboard while I'm typing I may be typing away for quite a while before I notice I'm no longer on the page where I should be. How do I stop Firefox from thinking I'm trying to use a keyboard shortcut to open up a new tab (it just happened again when I started to type "trying"). I'd rather eliminate all keyboard shortcuts if that is necessary. This is really becoming a pain for me and my fat fingers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is possible that some of the status keys have the wrong state and Firefox sees them as still pressed.

Try to press all the status keys (Shift, Ctrl, Alt) a few times to see if that helps to recover from this. If it doesn't help then close and restart Firefox or reboot the computer.

Thanks, but that has all been done many times before; this has been going on for a long time. Again, as long as I hit the "t" straight on there is no problem. Unfortunately, my poor old fat fingers don't always hit it square. Any other key doesn't matter - I just get a "sd' or a 'jk" and re-type it, but a miss on "t" and Firefox says "oh, a new tab request". Is it possible to delete keyboard shortcuts in Firefox?
