i wish to turn off the default firefox click/clacking sound at website opening

as has been the case with firefox since I first started using it, whenever I open a site, firefox makes a horrid repeated clacking sound, I am a visually impaired user and this is both annoying and distracting to me, can someone tell me how to turn this thing off other than silencing all sound that may come from the browser, since I play samples of music I am thinking of buying and total sound out would kill that as well.

I'm pretty sure that is not built-in to Firefox. I think it is caused by one of the settings in the Windows control panel under system sounds. For example, there are "Start Navigation" and "Complete Navigation" sounds that you can assign which Firefox might be picking up. If you are able to use that Control Panel, you can use the Test button to preview the sounds and see which one you might be hearing.

In another thread, a user was tormented by the Menu Command sound, but unless yours plays only when you choose a menu item, that probably isn't what you're hearing.
