why do i have surf canyon when it does not show up in my firefox extensions or windows programs

I have the extension surf canyon. I did not instal it. It is not in my firefox extensions or in my windows programs. It interferes with my browsing and slows down my pc. how do I get rid of it?

"Surf Canyon got on your computer after you have installed a freeware software (video recording/streaming, download-managers or PDF creators) that had bundled into their installation this browser hijacker. This browser hijacker is also bundled within the custom installer on many download sites (examples: CNET, Brothersoft or Softonic), so if you have downloaded a software from these websites, chances are that Fast Search by Surf Canyon was installed during the software setup process."
