hello, although it is meant mainly for enterprise use, for the moment you could still use the firefox 17esr release which will receive security updates for another one or two months: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all.html (scroll down into the second part of the page)

just as a general pointer: i wouldn't trust a bank very much when it forces you to use outdated and vulnerable browser for such a sensible task like online-banking...

In the event the advice I had been given turned out to be wrong and I am now able to use the service via Firefox 24.

I think the call centre needs to update the information they give their staff!
