There is little help with Contacts/Address Book. How do I put the address books in the l/h sidebar into a specific order like alphabetical, for instance? How do I change the order of contacts from alphabetical by first name to alphabetical by surname?

Where are the setting controls which do this?

Glad to hear that Jim, hopefully the address book order issue will be sorted out when you switch to your new computer! Also, can you kindly mark my answer as the solution (solved) if it managed to help you, as that can help others with similar problems in the future!

Hello Jim, For the order of contacts changing from alphabetical by first name to alphabetical by surname, on the "Address Book" window, click "View" (which is located on the top left), then click "Show Name As".

Your current "Show Name As" setting can then be changed from "First Last" to "Last, First", and then you can then click the "Name" column header's "up/down" arrow in the address books to list your contacts in alphabetical order or in reverse by their surnames.

And as for the changing of the address books on the sidebar into a specific order, as far as I know, it is already sorted in alphabetical order aside from the default "Personal Address Book" and "Collected Addresses" address books.

Please refer to the attached images if you need further context. Hope it helps, and if it does, please mark the answer as the solution!

Thank you; this solves the First/Last or Last/First problem but not the address book alphabetical order problem. And that is a strange one because all the data is imported from Contacts on my Mac where the address books are in alphabetical order. I will leave that for now however as I am switching to a new computer and can set that up afresh once I have edited my contacts (I have accumulated far too many!) so thank you again and particularly for such a quick rsponse.
