Hey, I need some help to save my older E-mails. What I did: Upgrade from Ubuntu 14.04 LTS to 18.04 LTS in mid 2019.

before that I did not a propper migration because I didnt know it exists, but I saved 2 folders with Thunderbird on it. I dont know if I got the right ones because they are on different places, some seem to be hidden folders.

So.. one has this content thunderbird/etc The other one thunderbird/usr/lib/thunderbird/chrome, defaults, distribution, extensions ..... thunderbird/usr/lib/thunderbird-addons/ distribution, extensions.. thunderbird/usr/lib/.thunderbird/ Crash Reports, Pending Pings, ..

Mybe I have the wrong folder, maybe I got the right one but I cant find the e-mails in all the cryptic data.

can anyone help me with that please?

second problem I got is the updatebutton in Thunderbird doesn't work, so I had to install a new version and migrate everything to that new installation? Can't be the right solution.

My actual Version: 68.8.0 So no updates almost a year

Install the addon and point it to your backup to import mbox files.

The current version of Thunderbird is 68, but as you are using Linux, updates come from your distributions repository, what they have or not is something you will need to address with them.
