Let's say I open a private tab. Now I'm getting back to my regular tabs, the private tab stays open, and I can go back to it (as long as I don't close it)

I know that if I close the Firefox app, it will close the private tabs. But even if I don't close it, after a certain amount of time, Firefox will close the private tabs.

My question is, when does Firefox closes the tabs, is it after a specific amount of time? Is there an option to cancel that?

Thanks

Hi

There is a setting in Firefox for Android that you may want to change, but please note that this is very non standard and should be done very carefully - this is not a supported option.

  1. In Firefox for Android, type about:config into the address bar.
  2. In the small search field, search for browser.tabs.expireTime
  3. Change the number 900 (900 seconds = 15 minutes) to a greater number.

As mentioned above, this is a very non standard setting, so please use with care.

Thank you for the answer.

My goal is to keep the tabs open.

But for testing that, I tried putting very low numbers (1, 2 and such) in that option, And it does not seem to work.

Try putting in a number many times larger than 900. 900 is 15 minutes, so 1800 should be 30 minutes.
