I cannot set the foreground colors on text or set a background graphic in Thunderbird. When I select Text I wish to turn to red and click the button to summon the color chooser, I can select a new color but when I close the Color chooser the text color remains black. I selected a graphic for my background tile and it shows up in the "Page Colors" dialog box ... but not in the message sent. Changing the text default color has no effect.

Problem was solved. It seems a setting in the preferences got changed, somehow, without my knowledge (Accidentally no doubt), and that setting overrode the changes I was attempting to make. One good question by a developer solved the bug and this complaint.

Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.

Please post your results so other can benefit, even if we don't help you identify what is wrong.

What happens when you try it? (Here's the tiled background I was using with success on a previous version of T-Bird:)

Is it just me, or does that image not load on this forum? I see the thumbnail, but not the image when I click.

I have just gone to write an email, enabled the colour setting and set the text to green and added an ugly image. I clicked ok and everything worked.

I do not have an apple product to test on But it worked on Windows 10.

That's not a thumbnail - it is the ENTIRE 'Tiled' Background Image that I have used Before. Download it: and set IT as the image for your background.

I CAN Add Images IN the email myself. That's NOT the problem.

Can you change the emails BACKGROUND Image? I Cannot. (Go To "Format" Menu ----> "Page Colors and Background..." and click on "Choose File" button.)

I see that funky behavior when I click on the Image also. A 'Blank' pop-up ghosts in ... empty.

Try Right Clicking on the "Thumbnail" Image ... and "View Image" or "Save Image As" ... that works.

Try Right Clicking on the thumbnail ... and selecting "Open Link in new Tab" ... THERE it Is!

Works for me. Using your image.

I have emails a group of folks. Hopefully one of them has a mac they can test it on.

So it appears to be an issue on TB 60.8.0 with Mac OS 10.12.6 ONLY. Well, thank you for helping narrow down the parameters of the bug. Very helpful!!!

(If you Can use that background tile: Keep it. If you get bored with the current color you can rotate the color phase with an image editor to make it a 'YOUR Color' background tile.)

If the devs send me nightly builds, or whatever, I'll try them, also. Let's iron this bug out!

Well, I was under the mistaken impression that this was where I file bug reports. No, this is where valid bugs go to FALL THROUGH THE CRACKS and never get addressed. Now I know. But It is STILL A BUG.

No you file bugs in bugzilla. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/home

This is a user support forum, where we have done out best, but there are just no users of apple here. it is like Linux. A niche. Unfortunately unlike Linux I can not just make a copy to examine your assertions. I have to buy it and as I get no money or anything else from this site, I see no reason to purchase a highly priced product that I actively dislike to offer support.

There's a user of Apple here NOW.

But, if it is any consolation to you, I also think Apple "Jumped The Shark" in 2012: and hasn't made any GOOD Hardware since then. And their software doesn't work for ME any more, either. Gets worse with each OS Upgrade since Mac OS Classic 7.6 ... I've been using it since OS 6.0.8.

I figured out that I had to level up .. as I said it was a mistaken impression to file bugs here ... so I did this instead: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1574363 And, you DID help: I filed it as a Mac Only Bug thanks to you. (Please Email me if you have a Mac OS X Issue you need verified. I WILL Help.)
