I had a computer crash and have had to re-download and install Thunderbird and am having difficulty! I do use AVAST anti virus and read on another thread that this might be causing my problem. Does anyone have any step by step advice to give me to add a security exemption? I set up my mail account details/passwords but my mail and folders are not downloading. I use BT Yahoo Mail if that helps.

Thanks in advance...

Wrong question. Creating an exception is a workaround at best, not a solution. You'll need to fix the underlying problem, which most likely is Avast. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/error-codes-secure-websites

Oh! I think I've fixed the issue! I checked the box (I can't recall what it said) but I think I've exempted myself from....? I honestly don't understand all of this and am not an IT person and am hungry and exhausted:). But my folders have all downloaded which is great:).

Thanks very much Christ1. It does seem to be fine now but to be honest, I've reverted back to Outlook (I re-installed my Office and it comes with Outlook). I may come back to Thunderbird at a later date.
