When typing new mail we have to press shift button to make a capital letter at the start of a new sentence. This automatically happens in Microsoft Outlook.

I've never had an issue using a 'Shift' key or 'CapsLock' key to create a capital letter. It's exactly the same as using a typewriter :)

But I can see how it could be annoying. I've located a couple of addons which may do the job. please note these addons are the responsiblity of the author and not Thunderbird.

The first one sounds more reliable based on reviews.

I have tried the second add-on, but as with my tablet and phone and their abysmal auto-correct and auto-complete functions, I find I am fighting this "feature" more often then it helps me.

I'm with Toad; the shift key suits me and does exactly what I tell it to, with no second guessing.
