Thunderbird did an automatic update, and now it will not download messages from the server (gmail accounts). It doesn't time out or anything. I know I have messages because I haven't checked for 2 days. I get at least 100 messages a day.

The #1 reason for Thunderbird to not work properly like this after the program updates, is that the antivirus/firewall program doesn't recognize the new Thunderbird version as "safe", so it blocks it.

Usually the antivirus program will update itself, and suddenly Thunderbird will work again. Or you can go into the antivirus/firewall program controls and tell it to allow Thunderbird.

I have been able to get my messages for the most part. Occassionally, when I open thunderbird it will have the same problem, but restarting the computer will allow the programm to work properlly again.
