I have been using Thunderbird for over a year and love it. I had about 10 email accounts (Yahoo and Gmail) added to my Thunderbird and never had a problem until yesterday. No matter what I did I had trouble after trouble receiving and sending emails. I uninstalled Thunderbird and re-installed it and the following are the next steps that I took.

1. Added one of my Yahoo email accounts with the correct email address (admin@ancient-hebrew.org) and password. 2. Clicked continue. 3. Selected POP3 rather than IMAP. 4. Clicked manual config. 5. Verified username is admin@ancient-hebrew.org for incoming and outgoing and correct server hostname, ports and SSL. 6. Clicked done and OK to get out of Account settings. 7. Wrote an email to my gmail account. 8. Mail succesfully sent. 9. Opened the email in Gmail. 10. Replied to the email back to Yahoo email. 11. Opened the reply in Yahoo email account in Thunderbird. 12. Closed Thunderbird. 13. Opened Thunderbird 14. Clicked "get messages." 15. Green bar at bottom stayed lit for a couple of minutes and the a Pop up window stated, "Sending of password for user admin@ancient-hebrew.org did not succeed. Mail server pop.mail.yahoo.com responded: Server error - Please try again later." 16. Closed Thunderbird . 17. Opened Thunderbird . 18. Tried sending an email from Yahoo account and pop up window stated, "Sending of the message failed. 19. An error occurred while sending mail: Could not get password for smtp.mail.yahoo.com. The message was not sent." 20. From that point on the email will not receive or send emails. 21. Checked all account settings and everything was perfect. 22. Am unable to send or receive any new emails in the Yahoo Account. 23. Removed the Yahoo account and re-added it. 24. Repeated the actions above and got the exact same results. 25. I searched the internet and the Thunderbird site looking for answers and could not find anything to help with my problem.

(not a good idea to post your email address on the internet)

I have updated the topic title. Hopefully someone will come along and help.

Until then, suggest you google "yahoo" and those phrases to see what you can find. Yahoo has lots of issues, so you shouldn't have trouble finding some good postings

Thank you very much for your response, it was very helpful, and thank you for improving the title. As for my email, you are very right, I didn't think of that, but that email is for my business and it is already all over the internet :-).

I was thinking this was a thunderbird issue, but I think you're right, it is probably a Yahoo problem, so I will be doing the search you suggested.

If I do find a solution I will be sure to post it here.

Thanks again.

I found the solution to my problem. It was a saved password conflict. Here is the solution...

1. Click on Tools 2. Click on Options 3. Click on the Security tab 4. Click on the Passwords tab 5. Click Saved Passwords 6. Click Remove All

Once all of those were removed the email was working perfectly.
